I heard of Doc's Passing this week.  I am so sad I did not know before.  Doc was a wonderful man, doctor, and boss.  He would go out of his way to help you, always gave great advise, and was absolutely  a man who could keep you laughing with some of his escapees.  I will always have the fondest of memories and appreciation of him.  Prayers to Elaine and girls.

To our Family-
My uncle Waitsell  lived life to the fullest. I will alway think of him and the good times we had with our cousins at Destin, at SkyValley, at Lake Allatoona and at Saluda. It was the best of times when we were all together- John, Gordon, Van, my dad Paul( or Doc) and everyone else thrown in together. Waitsell made the best biscuits in the world. It was a great way to grow up. We were lucky to have been in the presence of a true original.
May you all be blessed with peace-
Ann

Waitsell was a dear uncle and a great leader in Optometry-A pioneer of the "Co-Managment" principle that brought optometrists into a new age.  He worked very hard for the equal rights of Optometrists and he served the profession well.  On a personal note, He led our family with a great deal of patience and compassion through a very tough time after my father passed away, and I will be forever greatful to him.

I am so sorry for your loss.  May the outpouring of sympathy, the kind acts of friends and strangers, as well as your memories give you comfort to help you endure the days ahead.  The Bible also offers comfort.  “For God is near to those broken at heart. “ Ps 34:17,18.   Our Creator promises that there will soon be a time when “death will be no more.” Revelation 21:4.   If you have any questions or comments, please contact me at: theoneforson@yahoo.com

Dr. Bill Cuthbertson is the reason I am where I am at Omni Eye Services, and why the profession of optometry has Co-Management Centers all across the nation.  He was the visionary leader who realized there had to be a better way for optometry to interact with ophthalmology, and by forming the VEF Clinic, he changed the landscape of relationships between the two professions forever.  I will miss him dearly.

Bill and I served on the State Board together and he had the ability to look at the future of our profession and make great decisions that gave us the ability to prepare for the future.  The entire Optometric Profession will miss him greatly along with his family. My condolences to you, his family for your loss.

BILL WAS A YEAR AHEAD OF ME at Southern College of Optometry , so I have known him and his family including his brother Paul and their children for almost 50 years. He was a leader in Optometry during all of his career, and was always willing to help younger optometrists if we needed advice. Bill lived life to its fullest- always. And usually got his way whether as an optometrist or on the Cornelia City Council !

My condolences to Elaine and the two girls and the entire family. And I pray that your healing will be fast.   Sincerely,  Bill Sharpton / Lake Rabun

I will certainly miss Doc. I enjoyed working with him while he was a Commissioner in Cornelia from 1998 to 2006. He was always very honest with me and helpful when I needed it.  When I came to work in Cornelia in 1997 he was one of the first citizens that I met. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Doc and my dad, Joe H. Loudermilk were best of friends.  My dad passed away when I was 2 years old and Doc made a promise to him to take care of me.  He kept that promise and as I was growing up Doc always made sure I had what I needed.  He was a great person and I will always be thankful.  My deepest sympathy is with his family.  Amanda Loudermilk Kimbrel
