Emory "Snooks" Lee Hubbard Sr.

Emory “Snooks” Lee Hubbard Sr., age 83, passed away on April 10, 2018.

Emory was born in Oglethorpe County, Georgia on February 7, 1935 to the late Lincoln Hubbard and Stella Arnold Hubbard. He would marry the love of his life, Lynda Taylor on March 29, 1960 and they would raise their family in Union Point for the next thirty-five years. Lynda and Emory moved to Rabun County, Georgia in 1995, where he began his employment as a truck driver for Fieldale Farms. Emory was a Christian and a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church and a deacon and Sunday School teacher, in Union Point, Georgia. He was also an active member of the Joy Baptist Church in Lakemont, Georgia. Emory was a lover of the outdoors, enjoying camping, hunting and fishing. In his earlier life, he enjoyed riding horses, and competing in rodeos. He enjoyed cooking and baking and loved his family, always enjoying the time that he spent with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Hubbard, Grover Hubbard, William Hubbard; one sister, Juanita New.

Emory is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Lynda Taylor Hubbard; his son, Emory Lee Hubbard Jr. of Clarksville, GA; his daughters, Terry Hubbard Gaston of Union Point, Georgia, Tammy Hubbard English, of Mountain City, Georgia, Wanda Hubbard McCannon, Teressa Hubbard Gentry (Donald), Jackie Hubbard Land (Lance), all of Union Point, Georgia; two brothers, Charlie Hubbard, Herman Hubbard; one sister, Geneva Taylor; twelve grandchildren, James Gaston, Tim Hubbard, Kimberly Gaston, Jennifer Herring, Katie Welch, Sally Bussey, Robby Hubbard, Joey McCannon, Robby McCannon, Rocky Land, Amy Watkins, Wendy Smith; thirty one great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the Beck Funeral Home on Thursday April 12, 2018 from 6-8 pm.

A funeral service will be held on Friday April 13, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Joy Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Goss and Rev. Lem Clark officiating. The body will lie in state at the Church from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm.

Emory’s pallbearers will be James Gaston, Tim Hubbard, Jason Fleeman, Eddie Manders, Louis Roberts and Robby Hubbard.  

Interment will follow in the Joy Baptist Church Cemetery.
