Helen Tomes Osborne

Helen Frances Tomes Osborne, age 89, of Rabun Gap, GA, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at her home. Born in Hale County, AL., Helen was the daughter of the late James F. Tomes and Areminta Bennett Tomes. She was preceded in death by her husband Lt. John Walford Osborne.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary “Marti” Osborne MacMillan and son-in-law, John Meredith MacMillan of Rabun Gap, GA; and her granddaughters, Mary MacMillan Dunham (James Nathan Dunham) of Rabun Gap, GA, and Anne Margreate MacMillan of Dunwoody, Georgia. 

Helen had an intimate relationship with her Lord and Savior. She was baptized on April, 5th 1953 at Curtis Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia. A strong prayer warrior, she was devoted to sharing Christ and praying for others’ salvation. All who knew Helen could clearly see Jesus through her kind spirit, loving nature, and wise counsel. Known by many as “Nana,” her love for life was evident by her sweet smile and her ability to find joy and laughter in all situations. In all circumstances, she trusted God.

The memorial service will be held at 3:00p.m., on Sunday, April 2nd at Clayton Baptist Church with Pastor Cliff Lewis officiating. A reception will follow in the Ministry Activities Center (MAC).
