LaVerne Coleman, age 75, formerly of Clayton, passed away, December 21, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald David Coleman; parents, Hoke Edgar Grist and Montie Warren Grist, and one sister, LaTrelle Grist Rogers.
LaVerne was a loving mother and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Shopping was a favorite pastime, as well as reading when she was at home. She was an alumni of Rabun Gap Nacoochee School, where she was an avid basketball player and formed many lifelong friendships with her classmates.
She is survived by one son, Jamey Coleman (Renee), of Jasper, GA; one daughter, Tracie Dalton, of Alto, GA; one brother, Charles Grist, of Dillard, GA; six grandchildren, Drew Dalton, Cole Dalton, Alexandria Coleman, Stormey Coleman, Christian Coleman, Jeremiah Coleman.
The family will receive friends at the Beck Funeral Home on Friday, December 23, 2016 from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM.
A graveside funeral service will follow at the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church in Dillard, GA, at 1:30 PM with Rev. Doug Porter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Head of Tennessee Baptist Church P.O. Box 184 Dillard, GA 30537 in memory of LaVerne.
