Chester Bronn Wood, of Tiger, passed away peacefully surrounded by family April 13, 2024. He was born to William Homer Wood and Margaret Shook Wood Wilson in their home in Clarkesville, Georgia on December 5, 1943.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Barbara Ann Wood, a stepfather, Eddie L. Wilson, and a special Aunt Louise Wood.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sara Scruggs Wood, three children, Sabrona Watts (Kyle), Kerri Woods, (Jason) and Kim Wood. Grandchildren: Jess Watts (Kennedy), Anna Belle Williams (Isaac), Zahrah, Zenja, Zaychn, Zeva and Chloe. Great Grandchildren: Luke, Grady, Norra, Jack, Wyllow, Isabelle and Millie. He is also survived by four brothers, Bruce Wood (Maxine) of Blue Ridge, Georgia, Burch and Brady Wood of Newport Tennessee, and Barry Wood (Sandra) of Tiger, Georgia and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
In his younger years, Bronn was a talented rock mason, builder, contractor and talented draftsman. He assisted in the operation of Woods Grocery before taking over sole operation of the store later in his life. He was also a dedicated cattle farmer and loved taking care of his kids and grandkids. He was a charter member of Lakes Fire and Rescue and helped build both station 10 and 11. He was selected Fireman of the Year for 2 years.
A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, 2PM at Shook Cemetery locate 8200 Bridge Creek Road, Tiger, Georgia 30576. No formal visitation will be held. The family is receiving friends at home, 9025 Bridge Creek Road, Tiger, Georgia 30576.
