Burrell Young

Burrell Young, 91, of Clayton, GA passed away September 6, 2018.

Mr. Young was born in Wheeler County Georgia to late John Dewey Young and Dora Redding Young. The family moved to Lakemont when Burrell was in his early teens. Burrell attended school at Rabun County until he started working for the Tallulah Falls Railroad Company. He serviced the tracks from Lakemont to Cornelia. He was a faithful member of Lakemont Baptist Church and received an award for his perfect attendance. When his children were young he was involved with little league sport and coached for several years, during this time he served as a Troup master for the scouts. He worked for Burlington Industries in the Dye house for 23 years. Burrell also worked for Reeves Hardware at the tri state building supply location.

In addition to his parents Burrell was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Belle Henslee Young; two children, Gary Young, Carol Young Thomas; One Great-grandchild, Chase H. Andrews; two brothers, William Bill Young, John H. Young; one sister Mary Elizabeth Craig.

Burrell is survived by one son, Alan Young (Nancy) of Clayton; four grandchildren, Christine Thomas Rymer (Jeff), Marcus Cary Thomas (Melissa), Matthew Larry Thomas (Jessica), Adam Gary Young and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday September 8, 2018 at Beck Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday September 9, 2018 at Lakemont Baptist Church with Rev, Jewell Gaines officiating. Burial will follow in the Rabun Memory Park Cemetery.

The family asks that donation be made to the Sid Weber Memorial Cancer Fund PO Box 485 Rabun Gap, GA 30568 in lieu of flowers in memory of Mr. Burrell Young.
