Dorothy Nelle Houston Cannon, age, 95 of Clayton, Ga., passed away June 23, 2018. She was the daughter, of the late Issac Montgomery and Elmer “Mollie” Brown Houston. She was also preceded in death by her husband Leo Rash Cannon, one son Coach Michael Alan Cannon, four brothers, Herman, Ray, Hilliard, and Roy Houston, two sisters Eva Gibson, and Cleo Franks.
She is survived by one son Roger Olin Cannon (Kay) of Lula, Ga., six grandchildren, Michelle Cannon Lyle of Clarkesville, Ga., Matthew Cannon of Clayton, Ga., Sherri Chopp of Adairsville, Ga., Michael Cannon of Dahlonega, Ga., Roger Cannon Jr, of Lula, Ga., and Sarah Wilkins of Griffin, Ga; five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Dorothy was a member of Clayton Baptist Church for 60 years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and loved working with flowers. She enjoyed traveling and Western Square Dancing. She worked at Burlington Industries. Was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Clayton Home Makers Club, and served on Board of Directors of 9th District of Opportunity from 1981-2014.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Beck Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 26 2018, at 1:00 PM at the Clayton Baptist Church with Joey Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Wiley Cemetery.
