Dear Joyce Yvonne and Jackie,
Bonny and I are so sorry for your loss, and our loss. We came to know Hicks as a somewhat of a father figure as well, although only over the last 13 years. He was/is dear to our hearts.
He was such a courageous, and dedicated man - to his wife , his faith, his country and his family. I came to appreciate that he had not had the easiest of lives. He worked hard from his boyhood until the day that he just could no longer get out of bed. And, he trekked all the way across Europe n the service of his country. What a Man! He had such character that I never heard him complain. He just did what had to be done. What more can you ask from a man? I hope you find some comfort in the faith that he that he has gone on to be with his beloved Joyce, who was clearly his will to live these last several months, or these last 73 years.
I wish you both comfort in peace in this time of sorrow.
God Bless Hicks Wilbanks. We will all miss him

How can you say good bye to a man like Hicks? He was such a force, loved his family and his community completely, and was the best of friends to my husband and me. We will forever be grateful for all the help, humor, and coaching he gave us as we renovated our cabin, as well as the inspiration he provided to tackle our next project on the lake. We know that his loss, so quickly after the passing of Mrs. Wilbanks, is devastating to Joyce Yvonne, Jackie, and the rest of the family. I only hope that his release from pain and suffering brings comfort to his loved ones. RIP James Hicks Wilbanks.
