Joan (Scruggs) Kinzly

Joan Scruggs Kinzly, age 78, of Sky Valley, Georgia, passed away on September 26, 2018.

Joan was born the daughter of the late William Lafayette Scruggs and Ola Belle Burrell Scruggs on April 14, 1940. She was a lifelong resident of Rabun County, and a member of the Clayton Baptist Church.

Joan was the owner and operator of April Leigh’s Boutique Clothing Store. She enjoyed golf, tennis and playing bridge. Joan was a member of the Anita Roper W.M.U. group. She was a loving mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed people and was a friend to all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by, her husband, Lester Kinzly; her sister, Shirley Allred; her sister, Nancy Caroline Scruggs.

Her survivors include her son, Ricky Mitchell, of Clayton, Georgia; her daughter, April Deal (Ronald), of Wiley, Georgia; two brothers, Bill Scruggs and Jim Scruggs (Martha), both of Clayton, Georgia; two sisters, Dorothy Buice (Benny), of Clayton, Georgia, Sara Wood (Bronn), of Tiger, Georgia; two grandchildren, Fletcher Deal, Isaac Deal.

The family will be at Joan’s home from 12:00pm until 7:00pm on Thursday and Friday.

The Family will receive friends on Saturday September 29, 2018 at the Clayton Baptist Church from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday September 29, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Joey Thompson and Rev. Isaac Deal officiating.
