Rev. Larry Earl Cannon, age 73, of Clayton, Georgia, passed away at his home on December 8, 2017.
Larry was born the son of the late Marley Cannon and Lorene Speed Cannon. He was known for his work with the Rabun Bible Fund that gave a Bible to every graduating senior at Rabun County High School. He was a member of the Rabun County Lions Club, and served as the Chaplin for Friday night singing for many years. He was a preacher for over forty years and pastored at Wolf Creek Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church, and for thirty-three years at Mountain Grove Baptist Church where he was a member.
He started his working career at Rabun Mills, and then at A.I.D. corporation. He was elected as and served as Probate Judge for Rabun County for twenty years where he retired.
He was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He was a kind and caring person who helped anyone he could. He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed gospel singings.
In addition to his parents, his brother Wayne Cannon preceded him in death.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Faye Kelly Cannon, three sons, Kurt Cannon (Malinda), Lance Cannon (Cindy) both of Rabun Gap, GA, James Cannon; one daughter, Leah Cannon of Walhalla, SC; eight grandchildren, Isaac Cannon, Luke Cannon, Noah Cannon, Hanna Cannon, Hayden Cannon, Edith Marie Webb, Nathan Webb and Andrew Floyd.
The family will receive friends Battle Branch Baptist Church Sunday December 10, 2017 from 1:30 until 3:00 Pm with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 Pm with Rev. Michael Rogers and Bill Dough officiating. A graveside service will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Carlton Walker officiating.
