Mary Augusta (Clark) NevilleMarch 13, 1925 ~ November 6, 2017 (age 92)
Mary Augusta Clark Neville, age 92, of Fayetteville, Georgia, passed away in her sleep on November 6, 2017 at her home.
She was the daughter of the late Harry and Emma Askew Clark of Hendersonville, NC, born March 13, 1925, she grew up with her twin brother, Richard Dwight Clark of Asheville, NC, in Fairfax, Virginia. She attended Agnes Scott College and graduated from Converse College with a degree in Music and Sociology in 1947. She married Walter E. Neville, Jr of Rabun Gap, Ga in June of 1948, and settled in Griffin, Georgia where she provided a loving home for her children, Gail Stephens and Harry Neville.
She and Walter were very active in the Presbyterian Church, both in Griffin and Tifton, and her interests included singing in the choir, playing piano, volunteering with the Meals on Wheels Organization and playing tennis. They moved to Tifton, Georgia in 1972 where Walter continued his work with the Coastal States Experiment Station. Here they continued to be active in the Presbyterian Church and loved their fellow church members and other friends and neighbors. Both, later, moved to Dogwood Forest Retirement Home (now Gardens of Fayetteville) in Fayetteville, Georgia, where they celebrated 60 years of marriage, before his death in 2008. She dearly loved her friends there, enjoyed her independence, always “outshined” others with her knowledge of the Bible, in question and answer periods during Sunday school and church, and her sense of humor.
Mary is survived by her brother, Richard, son, Harry, and daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stephens, their children and husbands, Katie and Chad Burchfield, Jennifer and Alex Lanier, their sons, Hudson and Maddox, of Peachtree City, Georgia.
A private family service will be held on Friday November 10, 2017.
