Melissa Short Beck

Melissa Short Beck, age 71, of Clayton, Georgia passed away on March 4, 2019.

Melissa was born the daughter of Perry Webb Short and Nancy Hamby Short on August 28, 1947. She was a member of the Christian faith and a member of the Clayton Baptist Church. In her professional life, she worked as a cosmetologist for twenty years, as well as time spent working at Woodridge and the City of Clayton. At home, she was dedicated to her children, and raised 17 foster children over many years. She enjoyed camping and loved her bulldogs. She was a finalist in the Mountaineer Festival Beauty Pageant. She will be remembered fondly for her love of socializing and educating those around her, as well as the tremendous love she had for her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Stuart E. Beck Jr.; two sisters, Fifi Short McCraw, Nancy Short Jones.

Her survivors include her loving husband, Stuart E. Beck Sr., her son, Briton Beck and wife Staley, of Clayton; two brothers, Jack Short, of Clayton, Georgia, Bob Short, of Blue Ridge, Georgia; one sister, Kay Norton, of Alpharetta, Georgia; three grandchildren, Brison Beck, Noah Beck, Ivy Beck; daughter in law, Christy Patton Beck.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday March 6, 2019 at the Beck Funeral Home from 1:00 pm until 2:00pm.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday March 6, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of the Beck Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Carver and Rev. Teddy King officiating.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Melissa’s memory to the Sid Weber Memorial Cancer Fund P.O. Box 485  Rabun Gap, GA 30568 or to Beck Funeral Home to aid with funeral expenses.
