Obituary

CaraBelle Townsend Pendrey, age 86, of Clayton, Georgia went Home to be with the Lord on September 9, 2023.

CaraBelle was born in Ortona, Florida on December 11, 1936 to the late John Thurston Townsend and the late Carrie Elizabeth Cochran Townsend. She graduated from LaBelle High School in 1954, alongside the love of her life, James W. Pendrey, whom she married two years later on June 10, 1956. CaraBelle and James would first travel together to Panama during his Army service where they would find their true calling as missionaries of the Gospel, by helping start two ministries there. She was a pillar of her family and community as she and her husband built and pastored a church in the Bay Islands of Honduras, and then throughout the 25 years of pastorship at Mountain City and Clayton Church of God. She was a steadfast prayer warrior and a dedicated pastor's wife. She constantly pointed people to Jesus. She loved to travel and to sew. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was always a lover and encourager of people.

In addition to her parents, CaraBelle was preceded in death by her daughter in law, Diane Pendrey; eleven of her twelve siblings also preceded her in death.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 67 years, Ordained Bishop James Willis Pendrey, of the home; her sister, Loretta Townsend Hyman; her four children, Bruce Pendrey (his wife, Donna and their sons, Will Pendrey and Colby Pendrey), Carl Pendrey (his sons, James Pendrey, Derik Pendrey, Steven Lynn, Brandon Lynn and special friend Lisa Tracy) Keith Pendrey (his wife, Dianne and their children, Amber Pendrey Stewart and Blake Pendrey) Debra Pendrey Kalson (her husband, Daniel and their daughter Monika Kalson Wilson)

The family will receive friends on Saturday September 16, 2023 at the Persimmon Church of God, located at 2360 Devils Branch Road, Clayton, Georgia  from 10:00 am until 11:30 am.

A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm at Persimmon Church of God on Saturday,  September 16, 2023 with the Pastor Stephen Henderson and Rev. Teddy King officiating.

The committal will follow at the Persimmon Community Cemetery with Rev. Edward Hood officiating.
