Dale Charles
Pysher
Mar 1, 1926 — Mar 24, 2026
Dale Charles Pysher passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, after a remarkable century of life, love, service, and family.
He was born on March 1, 1926, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to Calvin C. Pysher and Florence Nobel Pysher (née Strouse). He was raised alongside his sister, Kathryn Nettie Pysher, affectionately known as Kay.
After graduating high school, Dale joined the United States Army Air Corps and proudly served his country. Following his military service, he attended Lehigh University through the GI Bill, earning a degree in engineering that would lead to a long and accomplished professional career.
Early in his career, Dale worked for Burlington Carpet Mill, where he met the love of his life, Jane Ramey. It was the beginning of a lifelong love story filled with devotion, adventure, and family. Dale and Jane were married on November 12, 1958, and together raised two daughters.
Throughout their marriage, Dale and Jane traveled and lived throughout many parts of the world. Some of the family's most cherished stories include the couple's time in Germany while Dale worked with the Army Corps of Engineers. In addition to his engineering career, Dale owned and operated a Tastee Freeze franchise in Conyers, Georgia, and the Western Auto store in Clayton. He also worked for Brooks Lane Apartments in Clayton before taking his full-time position as "Poppy."
Although life and work carried them to many places around the world, Rabun County — especially Clayton and Tiger — was always home. Dale and Jane ultimately returned there to be close to their growing family and to play an active role in the lives of their grandchildren.
Family was the center of Dale's world. Known lovingly as "Poppy," he took immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending sporting events, supporting their interests, and spoiling them every chance he could. He built forts in the woods, turned the front yard into a dirt bike track, and embraced life with the heart of a child. He loved being "Poppy."
Dale especially loved spending time at the beach, often enjoying trips to Marathon Key or Daytona Beach, Florida, usually with several grandchildren along for the adventure. He could often be found driving his beloved Cadillacs full of grandchildren or towing dirt bikes behind one for the next adventure. Dale had a lifelong appreciation for beautiful automobiles, especially his Cadillacs, which became one of his many trademarks.
Dale was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane Ramey Pysher, whose love and partnership shaped every chapter of his life. Though his family will miss him deeply, there is comfort in knowing they are together once again.
Dale leaves behind two daughters, Jill Pysher Underwood (Jim) of Carnesville and Angie Pysher Moylan (Scott) of Hampton; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever cherish the memories and love he shared with them.
He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, strong work ethic, dedication to family, and generous heart. His legacy of love, laughter, resilience, and family traditions will continue through all who knew and loved him.
In accordance with Dale's wishes, a Celebration of Life gathering will be held on May 30, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Hideaway at Laurel Falls. 43 Europe Ln, Clayton, GA 30525
