John Gerald Moore, 69 of Madison, passed away suddenly on August 21, 2026. John was born in Erie, PA on April 14, 1957. He grew up in Nashville Ga and later moved to Lakeland, Fl where he graduated from Kathleen High School. He received a Bachelor’s degree in business management from Valdosta State College where he met his wife of 45 years, Johnnie Sue (Mooney) Moore. They made their home in Madison, where they raised their daughter, Callie Rae. John retired from Georgia Pacific after 25 years of service.

He was a devoted member and Elder of Madison Presbyterian Church. John’s main motivation in life was his deep respect and love for his Church and Family. He considered service to his Church and his faith in God as the cornerstone for his life here on earth. He was a highly respected member of his weekly bible study group, a faithful member of his Sunday school class and was considered to be an invaluable resource to so many within the Church community. He was a lifelong learner. He had a wealth of knowledge and valued reading and studying whenever possible. Spending time with his family and friends and being a part of this community was always the ultimate source of joy in his life. As known by many, John was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed watching his beloved Atlanta Braves. John led a quiet life of dignity and grace. He had a kind and gentle soul that strived to make the world a better place wherever he could.

John Moore is survived by his wife, Johnnie Sue and daughter Callie Rae. He also leaves a sister, Cheryl Daily (Glen) as well as nephews Justin (Uma) Daily from Alaska, Sean Daily from Washington State and niece, Kim (Brian) Dunn from Minnesota and grandnieces and grandnephew. He also is survived by two aunts, Lynell Roach and Jolene McGill from Lakeland, Florida and many cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at Madison Presbyterian Church on Friday, August 28 at 2 PM. A reception will follow the service.
