Joyce Nichols Lovell, age 88, passed away on October 18, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.

Joyce was born on March 7, 1938 to the late Carlton Nichols and the late Geneva Kilby Nichols in Rabun County, Georgia where she remained a lifelong resident. She graduated from Rabun County High School in 1955 and worked for many years in the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

A devoted Christian, Joyce was saved at the age of 12, though she never remembered a time when she did not know Jesus. She attended Clayton Baptist Church and was an active member of the Homemakers Club, Ideal Sunday School Class, and Anita Roper Circle. Joyce enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and reading. Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished her family dearly and considered them one of life’s greatest blessings.

In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Tommy” Howell Lovell.

Joyce leaves behind her children, Wes Lovell and Lisa Butts (James); sisters, Jan Jarrard, Judy Patterson, and Retia Holcomb; grandchildren, Jacob Lovell (Allison), Cameron Lovell (Hannah Blakeslee), Andrea O’Keeffe (Sean), Morgan Butts Turpin (Will); and great-grandchildren, Tommy Lovell and Simon Lovell.

Services will be held on Tuesday October 20, 2026 at Beck Funeral Home with the visitation from 1:00PM until 2:00PM and the funeral service following at 2:00PM in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel.
