Joyce (McDonald) Wood, age 90 of Scaly Mountain passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026 in her home. She was born June 15, 1936 in Sylva, North Carolina to the late Ralph Burdett McDonald and the late Leona Ruth (Barnes) McDonald.

Joyce was a faithful member of Scaly Mountain Church of God for 67 years, where she lovingly served as the church pianist since 1959. Her faith and love for Jesus were at the heart of her life, and she cherished her church family dearly. She had a special love for sewing and flowers, but above all, she treasured her family and the time spent with them.

In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Emmit Wood; and daughter-in-law, Andrea Wood.

Joyce is survived by her children, Edmund Emmit Wood, Kimberly Joyce Ruff (Randy), and Tamra Talley (Clay); siblings, Jack McDonald, Rita Jean Smathers, and Patricia Rowland; grandchildren, Tanya, Shane, Kristi, Wade and Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Tina, Madison, Bella, Shelley, AJ, and Conner; and great-great-grandchildren, Kyler and Madilyn.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Beck Funeral Home with a funeral service at 2:00pm in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel.
