Kathleen See Funkhouser, age 86, of Clayton, passed away on Tuesday May 23, 2017 at Stephens County Hospital.
Kathleen was a devoted wife to her late husband Wendell E. Funkhouser, and stood by his side throughout his service in World War II and Korea. She was a loving mother who was proud of her children. She could often be found in deep conversation with those around her or listening to music that she loved. Kathleen was also a wonderful hostess and ran a successful bed and breakfast in Lost City, West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Fannie See; her grandparents, Grover and Nellie Mae See; her husband, Wendell Funkhouser.
Her survivors include her sons Lindy Funkhouser (Jessica), Greg Funkhouser (Catherine), Kem Funkhouser and Mark Funkhouser; her foster sisters, Christine Delawder and Nancy Swisher; her grandchildren Daniel, Josh, Erik, Megan, Joanne, Luke, Jeremy Scott; along with four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday May 25, 2017 at the Beck Funeral Home in Clayton, GA from 6-8 pm.
A funeral service will be be held on Saturday May 27, 2017 in Broadway, Virginia at the Grandle Funeral Home. A visitation service will begin at 10am, with service at 11:30am held at 148 E. Lee Street Broadway, VA 22815 with interment to follow at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Lost City, WV.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Kathleen's honor to the Wiley Presbyterian Church 193 Wiley Church Lane Wiley, GA 30581
