Mrs. Lezell Cannon passed away on April 20, 2025 on Easter Sunday. Lezell had two daughters, Susan Cannon Trawick (Emory Trawick) and Nancy Cannon Norton (Butch); grandchildren, Christy Weir Hinmon (Remy), Brian Dyer, Josh Norton, Wade Trawick (Margie), and Ashley Griffith ( Keith); great-grandchildren, Andy Weir (Linda), Kensi Walsh (Hayden), Camryn (Matthew Quint), Silas Norton, Cannon Dyer, Baylyn Dyer, Sidney Trawick, Tyson Trawick, Madison Robertson, and Gage Davidson; and great-great granddaughter, Emory Lee Davidson. She had many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Lezell was born on December 21, 1929, the daughter of the late Sophie and John Ed Speed.
In addition to her parents, Lezell was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Cannon; sisters, Lorene Cannon and Effie Bleckley; brothers, Clyde, Cliff, and Jim Speed; and grandson, Josh Norton. She was a long-standing member of Battle Branch Baptist Church in Clayton, Georgia. Lezell loved her church and loved the Lord. It was her desire that all her family and friends would come to accept Jesus as their savior. She had a servant's spirit and helped anyone she could. She volunteered visiting nursing home patients and delivering meals on wheels. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She loved attending activities at the Rabun County Senior Center. She was a wonderful seamstress and cook. Many people enjoyed the benefits of her skills.
Special thanks to the Care Ministry and care teams of Battle Branch Baptist Church for constantly remembering her with prayer and cards.
There will be a receiving of family and friends at Battle Branch Baptist Church on April 26, 2025 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm with a funeral service following the visitation at 2:00pm. Burial will take place in Roane Cemetery.
