Mrs. Lillie Mae Wall Peeples, Widow of William "Bill" Peeples of Clayton, Georgia, passed away on September 9, 2021.
Born in the Chechero Community on December 27, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Wall and the late Effie Smith Wall. As a child she attended the two room school in the Chechero Community, was a graduate of Tallulah Falls High School in 1946, graduate of Middle Georgia College in 1948 and a Cum Laude graduate of Piedmont College in 1953, as well as continued her education at Western Carolina University. She was a teacher for 39 years in the Rabun County School System and served on the Rabun County Library Board for several years. She was a Christian and a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church in Clayton, Georgia. She was a member of the Georgia and Rabun County Retired Educators Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Peeples; two step sons, Mike Peeples and Pat Peeples; her brothers, Louie Wall, Harley Wall, Bert Wall, Thad Wall; her sisters, Grace Norton, Janet Smith and Pearl Wall; her two nieces, Evelyn Justus and Marlene James.
Her survivors include her five grandchildren, Kristi Williams, Brendan Peeples, Christopher Peeples, Pepper Peeples, Michael Peeples; three nieces, Catherine Anglin, Rebecca Stovall, Diane Lanier; one nephew, William Norton; five great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild also survive. She is also survived by Joan Gabrels Phillips who was like a daughter to her.
A private service will be held until it's safe for all friends and family to gather for a celebration of her life.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Lillie Mae's memory to the New Hope Methodist Church P.O. Box 1213 Clayton, Georgia 30525.
