Mary Jo May York, age 91, of Clayton, Georgia, passed away on December 13, 2017 at her home.

Mary Jo was born in Toccoa, Georgia in 1926. She was the daughter of the late Fred A. May and Mary Lee Busha May and the stepdaughter of the late Kathleen May. She was a devout Christian woman and was a member of the Clayton United Church since the age of seven. She was a loving mother to her three daughters and a loving wife to her late husband, James Carlton York.

In addition to her husband and parents Mary Jo was preceded in death her daughter, Karren York Dubois; her son-in-law, Harry W. Deaton; Her sisters, Minnie May Ryles and Carole May Eastland; one grandchild, James F. Dubois Sr.

Her survivors include two daughters, Gail York, of Clayton, Georgia and Janice York Deaton, of Beaufort, South Carolina; one sister, Fredda May Coleman, of Marietta, Georgia; three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home on Sunday December 17, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held on Monday December 18, 2017 at the Clayton Methodist Church at 1:00 pm with the Rev. James Turpin and Rev. Jeremy Lawson officiating.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Karen York DuBois Scholarship Fund C/O Rabun County Board of Education 963 Tiger Connector Tiger, Georgia 30576.
