Nellie Moore Carnes Houck went home to Jesus on November 6, 2024 at age 88.
Nellie was born to Judson and Virginia (Kendrix) Moore on August 17, 1936 in the Boggs Mountain Community. Nellie met her husband, Lidge Carnes, and they were married in April of 1954 and went on to have two children: Wanda Gail Allen and Randy Scott Carnes.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Nellie also loved working in her garden, staying actively involved in regional bowling tournaments, and holding various volunteer roles at Black Rock Baptist Church. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God which she shared with those who surrounded her. Nellie enjoyed crocheting gifts for her family, journaling, and traveling with her sisters. Nellie was the eldest member of the historic Needy Creek community.
Nellie joins her parents, Judson and Virginia, and her husband, Lidge, in Heaven. She is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth (Lib) Loggins and her spouse Grover, Doris Williams, Susie Matheson and her spouse Billy, and Judy Bryson, along with Nellie's brother, Walter Moore, and his spouse Sonya. She is also survived by her daughter, Gail and her spouse Randy A. and her son, Randy C. and his spouse Linda. She is survived by her grandchildren, Carrie Allen, Elise Holloway and her spouse Jeremy and a soon to be great grandchild, Jason Benfield, Amber Benfield, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held 11:00am-1:45pm Friday, November 8, 2024 at Beck Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held following visitation at 2:00pm in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Carnes Cemetery.
