Obituary

Richard Pierson Sissel, age 73, of Tiger, Georgia, passed away on January 31, 2024.

Richard was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on May 14, 1950 to the late Jonathan Edward Sissel Jr. and late Mary Alice Pierson. Richard was the owner of Independent Glass and Mirror.

In his free time, Richard raced bass boats and even set a world record for bass boat speed. He enjoyed working on and building muscle cars, some of which won best in show. Richard was also a gun smith and carpenter. He lived his life fully and everything he did was done with gusto.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, John Sissel.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Rita Sissel; step-daughter, Mary Hawthorn Thwaite; sister, Deb Trainor; and grandchildren, Emily Hawthorne Thwaite, Hayden Lawson, and Lindsey Hawthrone Thwaite

The family will receive friends 2:30-3:30pm on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Beck Funeral Home, with the service immediately following in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sid Weber Foundation.
