William Vaughn Billingsley, 84, of Rabun Gap, Georgia, departed this world for a better place on March 6, 2023 in the early morning hours. Born and raised in Scaly Mountain, NC, his daddy taught him how to work hard and how to love the Lord. He kept that stout work ethic right up until he passed away.

He was well known in the community.  He, his wife Lillie, and girls worked hard to build Billingsley's Nursery and Landscaping. He loved to farm and to see his crops and babies grow.

During his years running the nursery, Vaughn sold and shipped trees all over the country. In recent years, he enjoyed growing tomatoes and corn and selling his produce at the flea market and talking to anyone who would stop long enough to listen. He stayed on the road and went fishing and hunting every chance he got.  Vaughn stayed busy and tried to keep everybody else busy too if he could.

Vaughn is preceded in death by his parents, William Franklin "Dub" and Dollie Brown Billingsley, his devoted wife of 55 years, Lillie Savannah Stancil Billingsley, and his grandson, Jackson Vaughn Cabe. He was glad to be reunited with them in glory when he went home.

He is survived by his siblings, Barbara McClure (Jimmy), Jack Billingsley (Shorty), and Darrell Billingsley (Susie), his children, Robin Billinglsley, Tammy Kilby (Mack), Sheila McClain (Dean), Holly Cabe (Brian), and Steve Hicks, his grandchildren, Kasie Campbell (Clay), Savannah Kilby (Chad) Scarlett "Peaches" McCall (Weston), Billy McClain (Chelsea), Katie McClain (Travis), and Woody Cabe. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Weston and Sutton McClain, Elliot and Elizabeth McCall, and Lillie Campbell. He will be missed by his fishing buddy, Jason Owens, and his trusted friend, Aurelio Guerrero.

The family will be receiving friends Tuesday March 7, 2023 at Beck Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday March 8, 2023 at Beck Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Cale Stancil officiating. Interment will follow at Scaly Mountain Methodist Cemetery.
