Charles Hoke Grist, age 73 passed away on Wednesday April 12, 2023.
Charlie was born on February 25, 1950 in Clayton, Georgia to the late Hoke E. and Montie Warren Grist. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Reba Watts Grist, and sisters, LaVerne Grist Coleman and LaTrelle Grist Rogers.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, Michelle Winn, grandson, Blake Henslee, and granddaughter Nicole Winn Kendall. He is also survived by a very special little great granddaughter, Braylee Kendall, and great grandson, Bo Henslee. Charlie is also survived by his loving niece, Tracie Coleman Dalton, Nephew Jamey Coleman, and a host of family and friends whom he loved dearly.
Charlie’s greatest love was his family and worked hard to provide for them. His next greatest love was his horses. He enjoyed attending horse shows, riding, and caring for his horses. Charlie owned and operated Rabun Motors for many years. His Knowledge of the details in agriculture and business was amazing.
Charlie was a graduate of the University of Georgia where he met really good friends who have remained close all of these years. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping. However, that too, came after his horses.
Charlie was a member of The Head of Tennessee Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home Tuesday April 18, 2023 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM with a celebration of life to follow in the Chapel of Beck funeral home with Rev. Danny Cannon Officiating. Interment will follow in The Head of Tennessee Baptist Church Cemetery, in Dillard, Georgia.
