Dennis Michael Overholt passed away on July 9, 2024 with his family by his side.
Dennis was born July 13, 1950 to the late Wiley Fredrick Overholt and late Kathleene Wells Overholt.
During his life, Dennis had many things he was proud of. At the top of his list was his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was proud to be saved by Jesus. He loved traveling with his wife, Sue. He enjoyed playing ball and racing with the boys, coaching girls’ softball and boys’ baseball, umpiring for baseball and softball, as well as spending time with his adopted boys and girls. Dennis loved spending time building fast, good sounding engines.
Dennis was an ASE Certified Master Mechanic, past Master of Rabun Gap Lodge 265, 11 year president of Rabun County Little League, award winning service manager for Ford and Chevy, a member of the American Legion, and a lifetime member of the VFW. He was the owner and operator of Jones Auto Parts. He served overseas in Vietnam and received the Bronze Star during his service.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Sue Overholt; children, Mike Overholt (Mary) and Tim Overholt (Cassie); step-siblings, Jack Overholt and Pat Broxson; grandchildren, Haylee Leatherwood (Caleb), Haley Carpenter, Kyleigh Overholt, and Dylan Overholt; and great-grandchildren, Rhett Leatherwood and Riggins Leatherwood.
The family will receive friends 5:00pm-6:00pm on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Battle Branch Baptist Church in Clayton, Georgia. The service will follow at 6:00pm with the interment afterwards in the Battle Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
