Elizabeth S. Chapman
CLAYTON, GA- Elizabeth Short Chapman, 70, of Clayton, GA passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 at her home from a heart attack. She was born on March 3, 1954 in Henderson, NC and was the daughter of the late Robert & Eleanor Short of Norlina, NC.
Elizabeth grew up in Norlina and went to Vance High School. After attending NC State, she received a degree in Nursing from The Medical College of Georgia and spent many years in the nursing field serving many patients in her communities, ranging in care from newborns all the way up to hospice care for terminally ill patients. Many of her years in Nursing were excitedly spent in Athens, GA. She also displayed a passion for the outdoors, waterfalls, and flowers
throughout her life and was a florist at various points in most of her communities. She attended Rabun Gap Presbyterian Church in GA where she joyfully sang in the choir worshiping Christ.She had many friends in Clayton and was elected to serve on the City Council where she met many wonderful people.
She is survived by her son, Kristian Michael Chapman, and his wife Stephanie and her beloved grandson, Tyler, all of Mills River, NC. She is also survived by her brothers, Carlton & Barbara Short of Henderson, Larry & Janet Short of Norlina, Ronald & Nancy Short of Melbourne, FL,her sister, Mary Ann Lane & Robert Mattox of Norlina, and her sister-in-law Hazel Short of Norlina along with many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Michael Short.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home by Rev. Tim Short. Private burial will be at the Short Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the family home place, 474 Watson Road, Norlina, NC 27563.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Rabun Gap Presbyterian Church at a later date to honor her life and love of Christ.
