Estelle Youngblood Brown, 94, passed away peacefully with family beside her on June 26. 2025. She was married to Harry Brown, Jr. for 65 years. She and Harry raised six children on the Brown Family farm on Betty’s Creek, added her nephew Boyd Youngblood to their big family when he needed a safe place to live, and took over guardianship of Rachael Brown when she was just five years old. She and Harry devoted their lives to family, being active in Woodmen of the World, People First, Special Olympics, and advocacy for Special Needs Children, and was active in Dillard UMC. She became a member of RGNG at age 92.
Estelle was the daughter of Ben and Elvia Youngblood, her siblings, Ben, Jr., Oscar, Everette, and Vaughn, and is survived by her sister, Annie Edwards (Lawrence) Shellnut. Estelle loved to cook, and is well-remembered by the school children she fed at RGNS and RCHS, at church suppers, and the years spent cooking at Copecrest for the Square Dancers who lived for her Cinnamon Rolls on Wednesday evenings.
After raising her children, she went back to school and completed a degree at Truett McConnell College. Estelle and Harry volunteered to teach GED Training locally.
She is survived by her six children, Rebecca (Jerry) Cope, Rachel (Alan, deceased) Davis, Judy (Gerald) Plant, Benny (Dorothy) Brown, Daniel (Lisa) Brown, and William Brown, and the two children she took in as part of her family, Pvt. Boyd J. Youngblood, nephew, deceased, and Rachael Andrea Brown, special-needs granddaughter, deceased. .
Grandchildren are Marshall Andrew Cope, Philip (Kerri) Davis, Angela (Lee) Ginsberg, Jeremy Plant, Jennifer Tovar, Michelle (Jesse) Varner, Dean (Amanda) Woods, Clint Woods, Rachael Andrea Brown (mother Lisa Tippett), Kaye (Bill) Edwards, Jacob (Megan) Brown and Faith Brown.
Great grandchildren are Ashlei (Blake) Crowe and Jeremy Cope (mother Tami La Vigne), Kain Rider-Seith, Kara Henderson, Kylee Davis, Kelsey Davis, Jayce Ginsberg, Hunter Ginsberg, Hallie Plant, Gage Plant, Eloise and Milo Montgomery (mother Hannah Montgomery), Dylan Turner (mother Amelia Turner), Naomi Tovar-Plant, Victoria Tovar-Plant, Daniella Tovar-Plant, Taylor Bramblett, Bradley (Amber) Woods, McKinsey Woods, Jaylan Woods, Johnnie Woods, Jahseh (Corey Baldwin) Woods, Courtney (Terry) Walker, Destiny Deetz, Trinity Grace Deetz, Lewis Brown and Barrett Brown.
Great great grandchildren, Seth Baldwin, Rosie Baldwin, Frankie Eloise Walker, Natalie Woods, and Walker Woods.
The funeral service will be held at Dillard United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 29, 2025, viewing from 1:30 to 2:30, Service at 2:30, Graveside service at Wesley Memorial Cemetery, and a reception catered by Henry’s in the Church Basement. All friends and family are invited to celebrate Estelle Brown’s life. In lieu of flowers, bring a dessert to share at her final dinner.
