Flossie Faye Law Obituary

Flossie Faye James Law, 91, of Mountain City, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Traces of Tiger Retirement Home. A native of Rabun County, she was born on August 20, 1932, to Claude Preston James and Cornelia Thompson James Mashburn. She graduated from Rabun County High School in 1950 and attended Piedmont University. Flossie married her sweetheart James (Jimmy) Law in 1953 and was the mother of four children.

She is survived by three children, Nancy Hooper (Dan) and Kenneth Law (Wanda) both of Lawrenceville, and David Law of Buford; grandchildren, Marshall Hooper (Erica), Darren Hooper (Poupée), Burton Law (Brittany), and Lindsey Law.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ralph Thomas Law, and her husband, Jimmy.

Flossie was a kind, loving, and generous person who touched the lives of everyone she met. She was a devoted spouse, mother, grandmother, friend, and a cherished member of the community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Flossie loved to work in her garden and was always admired for her beautiful flowers. Her garden was her canvas, a tapestry of vibrant hues and textures woven together by her magical touch. Each plant was a testament to her unwavering dedication and her tender care.

Flossie was an avid reader. Books were her constant companions, their pages offering adventure and endless avenues for exploration. In her later years, she could be frequently found in Jimmy’s old recliner turning the pages of story after story.

Flossie worked for the Rabun County Board of Education as the secretary to Mrs. Sue Pennington for many years. Also, alongside her husband, she was the co-owner of Law’s Grocery and Chevron in Mountain City.

In addition to her work, she was a devoted member of Blue Heights Baptist Church where she participated in the Women’s Missionary Union, served as a Sunday School teacher and assistant to the treasurer.

Her friends and family experienced her loving kindness and will miss her until we meet again.
