It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Gary Lee of Clayton, Georgia, at the age of 65 on July 10, 2025. Born on April 6, 1960, to Deaver and Hazel Lee. Gary lived his entire life in the picturesque mountains of Rabun County, where he became a cherished member of the community.
Gary was not only a great man with a giant heart, he was also a devoted husband to his surviving wife, Carol Brown, with whom he shared 32 abundant years filled with love and companionship. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Makayla Martinez (Jadan) and Jake Martinez of Seneca, SC, one sibling, Louie Lee (Rhonda), and a niece, Ashley Lee of Clayton, GA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Deaver and Hazel Lee of Clayton, GA, and a stepson, John Brown of Ocala, FL.
He was a skilled horse farrier, practicing his craft throughout Northeast Georgia and the Carolinas. His passion for his trade was evident in his work, and he took great pride in serving his clients.
A reflection of the values he held dear, Gary embodied hard work, loyalty, and a profound love for the land and animals. He was not only a farmer and cowboy but also a true friend to many. Known for his kindness and willingness to help others, Gary's spirit of generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Gary will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey. His legacy lives on in the fields he worked, the horses he tended, and the hearts he inspired.
