George Van Buren Justus

George Van Buren Justus, age 80, of Clayton, Georgia passed away on November 15, 2021.

George was born the son of the late Odelee Virgil Justus and the late Laura Maude Ledford Justus on December 2, 1940.

George was a Christian and a member of the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church. George Graduated from Rabun Gap Nacoochee School. He enjoyed spending time outside, coon hunting and farming. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Rabun Gap Lodge #265. He always enjoyed “shooting the bull” with his friends at the station in Dillard.

In addition to his parents George was preceded in death by two sisters, Lexie Scruggs and Carolyn Smith; two brothers-in-laws Clyde Smith and David Smith.

His survivors include his one sister, Judy Smith, of Clayton; one Brother-in-law, Bill Scruggs; six nieces and nephews, Nancy Dixon, Johnny Scruggs, Charlene Bennett, Cheryl Redden, Tonya Ramey and Torri Beck and several great nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the Beck Funeral Home in Clayton from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Beck Funeral Home in Clayton, Georgia with Rev. Doug Porter and Danny Cannon officiating.

Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, in Rabun Gap.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in memory of George be made to Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Rabun Gap Georgia care of Dillard United Methodist Church, 5 Betty Whitecloud St, Dillard, GA 30537.
