George “Ed” Edwin Nix, age 75, of Clayton, Georgia passed away on May 17, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Ed was born on July 7, 1948 in Clayton, Georgia to the late Garnett and Stella Nix. After school, he served in the Army before working as the Produce Manager at Pannell’s Grocery.
Ed was a loyal member of Head of Tennessee Baptist Church who loved going to church. He also enjoyed being outside, working in the yard. Ed helped people whenever he could. Above all else, Ed loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Nix; and siblings, Doug Nix and Marie Speed.
Ed is survived by his children, Angie Turner (Delwyn) and Melissa Shirey (Brooks); brother, Ernest Nix; grandchildren, Creed Turner, Kaleb Turner, and Brooklyn Shirey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Beck Funeral Home 10:00am -11:00am on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. The funeral service will be held following the visitation in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Head of Tennessee Baptist Church Cemetery.
