Gladys Marie Owens Clem, 84, of Clayton, Georgia went to her heavenly home February 18, 2023. Gladys was born in Clayton, Georgia the daughter of the late Alvin Owens Sr. and the late Idell Nations Owens.
Gladys worked as a LPN and received her certification as a certified addiction counselor, certified Chemical dependency Nurse, Drug and alcohol counselor, and Emergency Medical Technician. She worked Satilla Mental Health Center for many years. Gladys attended North Georgia Tech, Waycross Junior College, Valdosta State College, The University and Life Bible College. Gladys was a loving, mother grandmother, great grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Butch” Clem; one son, Gregory Wayne Chamblee; two brothers Alvin Owens Jr, Bill Owens; one sister, Betty Sue Owens Gunter.
Gladys is survived by two sons, Gary Chamblee (Lanette) of Long Creek, Scott Chamblee (Kathy) of Clayton; two brothers, Gene Owens (Swannie) of Clayton, Alton Owens of Carrolton, Georgia; three sisters, Linda Owens Ramey of Clayton, Georgia, Katherine Owens of Clayton, Georgia, Eva Lou Owens Campbell of Clayton; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
There will be a memorial service Saturday February 25, 2023 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Beck Funeral Home with Rev. Adam Wright officiating and music provided by the Church of The Mountains Praise Team.
