Helen Grimsley Roberts, age 91, of Clayton, went home to be with the Lord on July 17, 2023. She was born in Fort Pierce, Florida in 1932 to the late Robert C. Grimsley and the late Selma Baker Grimsley.
Helen and her loving, devoted husband of 32 years, Eugene Roberts, moved to Rabun County in 1983. They have been faithful members of Clayton Presbyterian Church.
Helen was a long time member of the North Georgia Arts Guild. Helen had many talents, and loved to travel, enjoyed painting & card making and hosting dinner parties. Helen was an avid reader and she really enjoyed serving the Rabun County Library as a member of the Friends of the Library. She retired from the Orange County, Florida school system where she taught elementary students for 30 years. Helen graduated from Stetson University in Deland, Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Education and went on to earn her Master's Degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Helen is an alumna of Phi Mu sorority (φM), which is the second oldest female fraternal organization established in the United States.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two out of state, adult daughters, a son-in-law, a grandson and granddaughter. A small, private Celebration of Life service will be arranged at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Rabun County Library in Helen's memory.
