Jack Dempsey Carpenter, age 78, of Clayton, Georgia, passed away on October 19, 2024. Jack was born the son of the late Drew Carpenter and the late Bertha Bell Carpenter.
Jack was married to his loving wife for 54 years. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jack served his country in the United States Army. He served in Vietnam. He was in the 196th Light Infantry Brigade. He enjoyed people and was always laughing and cutting up. He enjoyed playing and watching sports. He played on a men’s softball team and a men’s bowling team. He was an avid Wildcat fan. He loved fishing. Jack enjoyed spending time at Five Points Grocery and Mama Gail’s. If he was not hanging out at Five Points or Mama Gail’s he was busy riding his red headed girlfriend Chloe around.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse Carpenter and Clarence Carpenter, one sister Jean Ramey and son in law, Troy Hopper.
Jack is survived one daughter, Lisa Carpenter Hopper of Wiley, Georgia; one son, Kyle Carpenter (Karen) of Clayton, Georgia; brother, Beaver Carpenter of Tiger, Georgia; four grandchildren, Victoria Hopper (Chazz), Andrew Hopper (Hallie), Erica Carpenter, Garrett Carpenter; three great-grand-children Faith Hopper, Chasten Roberts, Raelynn Roberts and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 23, 2024 from 1:00PM until 3:00 at Beck Funeral Home with a service to follow in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel. Immediately after the service the burial will take place at Rabun Memory Prk.
