Jane Lansing Derrick, age 99 of Clayton, Georgia passed away on April 2, 2026 in Tiger, Georgia.

Jane was born June 14, 1926 in Magnolia, Mississippi to the late George Edward Lansing and the late Mary Houston Sugg Lansing.

Jane was a dedicated and compassionate woman who devoted much of her life to caring for others. She graduated high school in Magnolia, Mississippi, before continuing her education in nursing at Louisiana State University for two years. Her career in healthcare included working at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, where she faithfully served her patients. She later earned her degree from Georgia Medical College, furthering her commitment to the medical field. Even in retirement, Jane continued to share her talents, working at Ridgecrest Hospital in Clayton, Georgia. Outside of her profession, she found great joy in painting and creating handmade crafts, often sharing her work at local festivals.

In addition to her parents, Jane is preceded in death by her husband, John Rafter Derrick; son, Charles Lansing; and 6 brothers and sisters.

Jane is survived by her children; John “Scott” Derrick (Leslie), Thomas Derrick (Joyce), Fred Derrick (Angie), Jan Adams (Allen), and Becky Baird (Ronnie); as well as 10 beloved grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

The family will be holding a private service.
