Mary Jane Venable Foster, 91, of Clayton Georgia passed away on August 24, 2023. She went peacefully to be with the Lord in the very early morning – “His mercies are new every morning” (Lam. 3:23). Jane was born on February 4, 1932 in Atlanta to the late Omar Damascus Venable and the late Myrtle Mae Locke Venable. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Baby Boy Foster and by her sister, Anne Venable Johnston.

She moved to Clayton in 1990 with her husband, Robert Hughes Foster (Bob). There she worked with several community organizations to include serving as President of the Clayton Women’s Club. Jane volunteered as a member of Friends of the Library and organized the creation of the Memorial Patio where names of library donors are displayed in appreciation for their contributions. She was a talented seamstress and quilter and was involved with several area sewing clubs including the Mountain Laurel Quilting Guild. Jane and Bob were members of Grace Bible Church in Clayton.
Jane was blessed to spend her last hours in her beautiful mountain home with her loving husband of 70 years, in the tender care of her eldest child. She had lived a long and happy life as the mother of five children: Robin Minyard (Dan), Infant Boy Foster (deceased), Lea Sanders, Angie Carter (Clay), and Hughes Foster (Colleen).
