Joe Robert Brooks Sr. of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on May 11, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.

Joe was born January 11, 1951, in Tiger, Georgia to the late J.R. Brooks and late Rose Mary Jenkins Brooks. After graduating from Rabun County High School, he went to ABAC, but came back home to help run the family farm. Joe was a lifetime farmer who operated the poultry and cattle operations.

In his free time, Joe loved to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed dirt track racing. But most of all he was a farmer through and through. Joe loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his loving wife, Myrtis P. Brooks.

Joe is survived by his living, loving wife, Joyce Brooks; children, Joe Brooks Jr. (Carmen), Melissa Brooks, Jennifer Brooks Bentley (Eric), Jaime Brooks, Janet Brooks Brewer (Keith), Jerry Speed (Beth), and Michael Speed; brothers, Jerry Brooks, and Johnny Brooks; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home Tuesday May 14, 2024, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday May15, 2024 at Providence Baptist Church. A burial will follow in the church cemetery.
