Joe Burch Jarrard, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home on May 30, 2025. He was born June 11, 1939 to the late John Alley Jarrard and Emma Kinney Jarrard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Mervyn Justus, Jewell Luster, and Lois Turpin, and one brother Coleman Jarrard.
Joe is survived by his wife of 55 years Lora Turpin Jarrard, their two daughters Jill Jarrard Clarke (Shawn) and Jodi Dixon. Four grandsons; Keldon Dixon, Clayton Dixon, Zachary Clarke and Ethan Clarke. Two great great grandchildren; Bristol Dixon and Ace Dixon.
Joe served as Clerk of Superior Court from 1969 until he retired in 2005. He was recognized as Clerk of the year in 1998. He was a member of the Rabun Gap Masonic Lodge and recently received his 50-year Master Mason pin. He was a volunteer fireman for the Warwoman Fire Department for many years and served as Chief for several years. He was a member of Battle Branch Baptist Church and was a good and faithful servant of the Lord.
He was an avid turkey hunter and always enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and was known for his unconditional love.
A graveside service will be held at the Battle Branch Baptist Church Cemetery on Monday June 2, 2025 at 1:00 pm with Madison McCrackin and Shawn Clarke officiating.
