Karl Kenneth James, age 94, of Scaly Mountain, N.C. passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. He was known to his friends as “Blackwell”.
He enjoyed bear hunting with his friends and family. He was a lifelong farmer who loved the land and watching his crops grow. He proudly served in the US Army from 1948-1953.Kenneth loved his church family at Flats of Middle Creek Baptist Church, where he was a member.
He is survived by one brother, Norman James of Merced, California; and four children, Debbie Fair (CB), Russell James (Peggy), Mitchell James, and Sonya James-Carpenter (Clarence). Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Rena James; brother, Bob James; and his son, Lamar James. He is survived by seven grandchildren and multiple great-grandchildren.
On behalf of the family, we wish to thank the Scaly Mountain community for the outpouring of prayers and support during this difficult time.
A visitation will be held 12:00pm-2:00pm on Saturday June 22, 2024 at Beck Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at Flats of Middle Creek Missionary Baptist Church at 3:00pm. Interment will follow in Scaly Mountain Methodist Cemetery.
