Lawton Noel Talley

Lawton Noel Talley, 74, of Franklin, NC., departed this world and was received by his heavenly home Sunday, July 30th, 2023.

He was a native of Rabun County, GA. He was a son of the late Leonard and Dorothy Talley of Mountain City, GA. In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his two sisters, Mary "Cookie" Saylor and Sandra Watson; and three brothers, Robert "Butch" Talley, Marvin Talley, and Tommy Talley.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra "Sandie" Talley of Franklin, NC.; two sons, Benjamin and wife Shelley Talley of Wytheville, VA., Heath and wife Amy Talley of Lincolnton, NC.; two grandchildren Kaitlyn "Katie" and husband Austin May and Caleb Talley; one sister, Barbara Carnes of Tiger, GA.; also, a special nephew Abraham Norton and wife Ashley with their two children Savannah and Andrew Norton of Brownsville, TX. As well as several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Noel served as a Sgt. in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. During this time, he was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor resulting from his heroic actions during combat. After the war, he completed his education at Tri-County Tech in Pendleton, SC. Noel was a member of Prentiss Church of God in Franklin, NC. Noel will always be remembered for his love of God, the love of his wife Sandie, his love for his family, and his sense of humor.

Services will be held at Prentiss Church of God in Franklin, NC on August 3rd, 2023, at 2:00pm with Don and Terry Moffitt officiating. Graveside service will be held at Hickory Knoll Cemetery immediately following.

The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm, one hour prior to the service at the church.
