Lester Foster

Lester Foster, age 82, of Rabun Gap, Georgia, passed away on June 1, 2018.

Lester was the son of the late Mr. Ira Frank Foster and Mrs. Blonie Lee Forrester Foster and was born on February 10, 1936 in Rabun County.

Lester was self employed and worked in the grading business. Lester enjoyed giving back and volunteering his time at the church food pantry and working in the kitchen at the church. He always enjoyed helping anyone who needed help. Lester was a member of the Wolffork Baptist Church and a Deacon there as well as a Deacon at Betty’s Creek Baptist for many years. Lester enjoyed traveling but always would look forward to getting back to the mountains of north Georgia, which he loved.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Justice Foster; eight brothers, Paul Foster, Sam Foster, Robert Foster, Ray Foster, Jack Foster, Andy Foster, Doug Foster, Donald Foster; two sisters, Peggy Ramey, Velma Webb. Lester was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

His survivors include his wife, Leslie Foster, of Rabun Gap, GA; his son, Jeff Foster (Molly), of Otto, NC;  his daughter, Shay McDowell (Steve), of Rabun Gap, GA; four grandchildren, Erin McGaha, Ben McDowell, Lindsey Foster, Drew Foster; two great-grandchildren, Jeremiah McGaha, Shayla McDowell.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 4, 2018 at the Beck Funeral Home from 1-3 pm.

A funeral service will be held on Monday June 4, 2018 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of the Beck Funeral Home with Rev. Grant McDonald and Rev. Ronia Hunter officiating.

A committal will follow the service at the Betty’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
