Llewellyn (Reeves) Luke Obituary

Llewellyn Reeves Luke passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 29, 2025.

Lou was born in Clayton GA to Lewis F. and Rubye D. Reeves. She grew up in Clayton but moved to Hollywood, Florida in 1948 and graduated from South Broward High School where she met her high school sweet-heart, Joe, whom she would marry in 1952.  She attended Southern Seminary in Buena Vista, Virginia.  After she and Joe married, they were stationed in Key West, Florida while Joe served in the Navy and Lou worked at the First National Bank of Key West.   After this they moved to Clayton where they both worked in the family business at Reeves Hardware Company until her retirement.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She loved to drive and enjoy our beautiful county and even told her children that she wanted to be a taxi driver just so she could drive around.

Throughout their lives, she and Joe enjoyed time at Lake Burton, playing golf and traveling across the United States.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph C Luke Jr, her parents Lewis and Rubye Reeves, sister Barbara Hickox and brother Lewis Reeves Jr.

She is survived by her children, Joseph C. Luke III(Angela), Linda L. Shaw (Don), James L. Luke (Vickie), and Leslie Luke; grandchildren Erik Shaw (Megan), Joseph Luke IV (Emily), Sterling Shaw (Peyton), Jessica Ward (Whit) Eli Luke (Birdie) and Chandler Houser (Ryan), sister, Fran Rogers, twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to her wonderful caregivers and PruittHealth Hospice for all of the wonderful care she was given during her illness.
