Manuel Perez, age 57, passed away in the morning of Monday December 27, 2021.

He was born in Ribeira, Spain on May 31, 1964 to the late Manuel Perez Valiño and María Isabel Rivas Rivas. His father preceded him in death. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Luz Gabriela Ortiz-Perez, and his son, Joaquin Perez.

In his professional life, Manuel worked as a journalist at New York Newsday, where he was part of the team that won the 1992 Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Reporting, and The Washington Post. He later worked as Editorial Director for CNN Digital.

He was a loving husband and father. He had a love for gardening and was an avid fan of the New York Mets.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Helena Catholic Church in Clayton, Georgia at 11:00 am Thursday December 30, 2021 with Rev. Luis Alvarez officiating.
