Mary Virginia Campbell (Mama G), age 85, was born in Augusta, Georgia on September 21, 1940. She was preceded in death by her parents William Herbert Youngblood and Aubrey C. Youngblood and her oldest brother Richard Eugene Youngblood. She is survived by her brother James Herbert Youngblood of August, Ga.  

For 67 years, she was the devoted wife of Grady Cullus Campbell, his anchor, his home, and his greatest support. Backed by her steady presence and encouragement, together they built a thriving dental practice in Gainesville and Rabun County Georgia.

She was a proud and dedicated mother to her three children: Lin Campbell Thompson (Perry M. Thompson), Glenn Cullus Campbell (Susan A. Stewart), and Terri Kay Barker (Harry A. Barker). Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren: Amanda Lawson (Mark), Jessica Lee (Mickey), Amy Rojas, Kristina Widdifield (Samuel), Anna Sala (Shawn), Laura Abernathy (Christian), Lindsey Thompson, Clare Stein (Alex), William Thompson, and eighteen great-grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally.

She was the steady force behind the scenes, the one who held everything together, the cornerstone of the family. She lived by the words “kill them with kindness,” exemplifying Galatians 5:14, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. She never judged, never held prejudice, and treated everyone with the same respect and compassion. Her strong faith in God guided every part of her life, giving her peace, purpose, and strength through every challenge. She loved Jesus, who holds her now, with all her heart, soul, and strength.

She will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a woman of grace, determination, faith, and kindness, a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister whose legacy lives on through the family she built and the lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held at Liberty Baptist Church on January 10, 2026 at 1:00pm.
