Mary Sue Speed Page, age 89 of Clayton, Georgia passed away on Thursday December 1, 2022.
Mary was born to the late Lewis Shirley Speed and the late Annie Mae Moore on October 11, 1933 in Clayton. The oldest of thirteen children she lived locally for 65 years. She was a devout Christian and a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was an avid reader, whose favorite book was the bible. She was a collector, who enjoyed acquiring relics of the Civil War, antique bottles and Louis L’Amour books. She thoroughly relished the time spent with all of her extended family. She was always a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Henry Page; her brothers, John (Bud) Speed, Jim Speed, Bill Speed; her sisters, Joan Speed, Mildred Speed, Jean Gittens (Lamar), Judy Harris (Johnny).
Her survivors include her sons, Rev. Raymond Page (Debbie) and Ronnie Page, of Clayton, Georgia; her daughters, Patricia Coates, of Clayton, Georgia and Carol Simpson, of Waleska, Georgia; her brothers, Eddie Speed (Shirley), of Franklin, North Carolina; Dale Speed (Donna), of Lakemont, Georgia, Wesley Speed (Brenda), of Clarkesville, Georgia; her sisters, Linda Pate (Ray) of Alabama, Lena Hatcher (Eddie) of Comer, Georgia; her grandchildren, Bruce Coates (Amy), of Tiger, Georgia, Stephanie Cashion (Wesley), of Cartersville, Georgia, Chris Coates (Kaylin), of Rabun Gap, Georgia; Renee Singley (Tony), of Dallas, Georgia; Amanda Simpson, of Jacksonville, Florida; Jonathan Page (Kelli), of Clayton, Preston Page, of Clayton, Josh Page (Brittany), of Montgomery, Alabama, Kenny Mize, of Cordele, Georgia, Sam Simpson (Julie), of Oxford, North Carolina; her great-grandchildren, Alex Coates (Kayla), of Summerville, Georgia, Kurtis Coates, of Tiger, Adryan Coates, of Rabun Gap, Noah Cashion, Aria Cashion, Ellie Cashion, Chance Leonard (Charlotte), of Dallas, Georgia, Eathan Page, Evan Page, Ean Page, Edgeran Page, of Clayton, Georgia, Andrew Fair, of Waleska, Georgia, Caleb Leonard, Emsley Leonard, both of Dallas, Georgia, Nolan Coates, Makenna Coates, Avery Coates, of Rabun Gap, Myles Page, of Montgomery,Alabama; great-great grandchildren, Clay Leonard, Carter Leonard, of Jacksonville, Florida.
The family will receive friends on Sunday December 4, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday December 4, 2022 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Raymond Page, Reverend Lamar Gittens and Reverend Thomas Burrell officiating.
Committal will follow the service in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery 7245 Warwoman Road Clayton, Georgia 30525.
