Maynard Brown Obituary

Maynard Willis Brown, born on August 26, 1930, in Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, July 29, at Kennestone Hospital. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maude Walls-Brown, and his daughter, Donna Lynn Rayburn.

Maynard lived a remarkable life, serving our country in the Korean War, 82nd Airborne, he was a Ranger and a paratrooper. He held a BA in Law from Mercer University and had a distinguished career in law enforcement. He served as the Director of the Crime Prevention Unit in Marshall TX, a Criminal Investigator at the Athens Police Department, the Academy Director at the University of Georgia, Public Safety Director and Chief of Police for the City of Helen and the Chief Investigator, Polygraph Examinator and Chief Pilot for the Rabun County Sheriff’s Department.

Maynard is survived by his loving wife, Katheryn Patricia Brown, and his daughter, Micki Birchman. He was a devoted grandfather to Patti Duckworth, Danny Birchman, Elizabeth Ray, Gini Weaver, and Cat Rayburn, and a proud great-grandfather to Caden, Liam, Blake, Grier, and James.

His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, at Beck's Funeral Home in Clayton, Georgia. A graveside service will follow at Clayton Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the service.

Maynard's legacy of service, dedication, and strength will be cherished by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
