Chester Reid Darnell, age 74, of Mtn City, Ga passed away on June 29, 2025. Born on December 26, 1950, he was the son of the late John Raymond and Ruth Inez Bingham Darnell. Reid was married to Virgina Darnell for almost 56 years.

Reid’s greatest joy was his family. Especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed spending a few weeks each year in Colorado fishing. He also enjoyed his Sunday meetings with buddies.

He was well known for being man of all trades. He could figure out how to fix most anything.

He is survived by his wife, Virgina Darnell; their three children Jodie Burnette (Ronnie), Jonnie Brown (Jason) Chet Darnell (Vicki); grandchildren, Jessica Alexander (CJ), Jordan Ward (Dustin) Ryan Brown (Jordyn), Blake Burnette, Noah Brown (Jenna), and Kadee Darnell.

Great grandchildren, Daniel Alexander, Natalee Woodruff, Carter Crane and Gintrie Crane.

Reid is also survived by his 98-year-old mother-in-law, Maxine Southards.

He is survived by brothers Bill Darnell of Fresno, CA and Frank Darnell of Clayton, GA. He is also survived by sisters Mary Darnell Ramey and Diane Darnell Stowe of Clayton, GA and Patti Darnell Gowens of Monroe, Georgia. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, to whom he loved unconditionally.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sibling, Jim Darnell, George Darnell, Becky Darnell Cannon, Virginia Sue Darnell, David Darnell, Freddie Darnell and Wayne Darnell.

He will be laid to rest in Darnell Cemetery and Taylor Park, Co next to Bo Corn. The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 1,2025 at Beck Funeral Home 11:30 AM- 2:30PM. The service will follow in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel.
