Fred Russell Henry, age 87, passed away on April 15, 2025. He was born in Clayton, Georgia on July 28, 1937, to his late parents, Fred Hampton Henry and Annie Mae Key Henry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Ronald Henry, and sisters, Patsy Henry Lovell and Susie Henry Hamilton.

Russell is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vernie English Henry; one daughter, Holly Elliece Henry-Perry, along with son-in-law, Austin Lewis Perry. Russell also has a one and only loved granddaughter, Allegra Elliece Perry.

Russell loved being outdoors and taking care of the land God provided. In his earlier years, he enjoyed horses, swimming and playing golf. He also enjoyed his cows and his small garden.

He cared deeply for his community. His presence will be greatly missed by all his loved ones and all those throughout the Persimmon Community. Russell was the co-founder of the Persimmon Community Club, Inc., which was founded in 1982. His main goal was to restore and preserve the Old Persimmon Schoolhouse. To this day, his goal and desire for the building is being achieved by those in the community.

He loved the Lord above all and was a dedicated member of the King Memorial Community Church. He loved reading the Bible and studying God’s word.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 12:00pm to 1:30pm at Beck Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by his friends Richard Wright and Tony Westbrook.

Russell will be laid to rest in the Persimmon community within the Persimmon Cemetery.
