Sarah Belle Chappell Watts, of Clayton, Georgia, passed away on November 2, 2023.
Sarah was born in Rabun County, Georgia on October 30, 1947 to the late Benjamin Buren Chappell and late Connie Gibson Chappell. She worked for Hanes Manufacturing as a Textile Reworker until her retirement.
Sarah was a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed doting on her grandchildren. Her family held special place in her heart and was very important to her. Sarah enjoyed watching western movies and doing jigsaw puzzles.
In addition to her parents, Sarah is preceded in death by her spouse, J.D. “Cotton” Watts, siblings, Vell Chappell, Marie Watts, May Humphries, Maxine Keener, Annie Lee Henry, Lucile Chappell and Lou Chappell, and grandchild, Shelley Raedawn Burrell.
Sarah is survived by children, Rodney Watts (Lori), Rhonda Watts Chastain (Wesley), Salisa Burrell (David), siblings, Michael Chappell, Shelia Payne, Ivy Lyn Butler and Gloria Eller, as well as 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family of Sarah Watts will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home 12:00pm-2:00pm Friday, November 17, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held to honor Sarah’s life at 2:00pm following the visitation in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Rogers officiating.
Before her passing, Sarah requested that flowers be omitted. In their place, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate or by mail to 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
